Creating Stronger Member Connections: Engagement Overview
Dear SGFP Members,
As a member-led organization, you are at the heart of everything we do. The SGFP Executive is committed to building meaningful opportunities for connection, dialogue, and collaboration. Today, I’m writing to share a couple of key ways on how we’re strengthening that engagement to reflect your needs, your voices, and your leadership.
First, we are pleased to be introducing an opportunity for you and the SGFP Executive to meet 1:1 through ‘SGFP: On Call’. This initiative invites members to sign up for 20-minute virtual slots to speak with SGFP Executive members. It’s a test of a new, low-barrier way to connect and share feedback. September slots are limited as we test our technology and processes—click this link to reserve a spot. If none are available, we plan to add more for October and November; these will be announced in upcoming Chair’s letters.
We remain committed to bringing SGFP leadership closer to members by meeting with members in your communities and practice settings. In 2024, we found great value to meet face-to-face with members across four communities in District 10, as well as meeting with an additional three northern communities virtually. This fall, we are excited to hold our Annual General Meeting and a townhall in Belleville in-person (register here), followed by in-person visits to several surrounding communities in District 6.
The Chair’s letter is also one of our core tools for staying connected, especially on issues tied to business income, system reform and digital health. And it’s a direct line to leadership: if you ever want to reach us, ChairLetterSGFP@outlook.com is always open. We do our best to respond to as many member messages as we can, and we value every one.
Beyond the Executive’s work, our operational teams—Tariff, Policy, and Digital Health—are actively engaging with members through surveys, consultations, and focus groups. Watch for upcoming opportunities to add your voice.
Your SGFP is a small but mighty team of physician leaders, supported by a lean administrative crew and expert consultants. We’re proud of what’s been accomplished over the past couple of years, but we know the work is far from finished. With your engagement, we continue building a stronger, more connected future for family medicine in Ontario.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Dave Barber
Chair, SGFP
