Leadership Spotlight: Get to Know the SGFP Executive Committee
Dear SGFP Members,
We have a strong team leading our Section. As a unique opportunity to get to know them better, each member of our Executive Committee has prepared a short video introducing themselves and their vision for family medicine in Ontario.
These seven passionate professionals bring diverse experiences and expertise to our organization, working tirelessly to address the challenges facing family medicine today. Their two-minute videos, linked below, will give you valuable insights into the dedicated individuals advocating on your behalf.
Dr. David Barber - SGFP Chair
As a practicing family doctor and Associate Professor at Queen's University, I bring a blend of clinical and academic experience to my role as SGFP Chair. Over my six-year tenure with SGFP, I've developed a deep appreciation for the challenges and opportunities in family medicine as we work together to enhance primary care in Ontario.

Dr. Salesh Budhoo - Tariff Team Lead
Dr. Budhoo brings expertise in tariff and compensation strategies from his diverse background, including roles at Ontario MD and Mississauga Health PCN. He is committed to improving physician compensation and ensuring equitable income relative to specialists based on accurate data.

Dr. Rebecca Hicks - Engagement Committee Chair
As an early career family doctor, Dr. Hicks brings a firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by her colleagues. She serves on the Health Policy Committee at the OMA and focuses on improving care delivery by addressing compensation issues and reducing administrative burdens.

Dr. Cathy Mastrogiacomo - Executive Committee Member
With 34 years of experience as a comprehensive family doctor, Dr. Mastrogiacomo understands member challenges intimately. She serves on various boards and working groups, driven by her commitment to developing models of care that restore joy and sustainability in family medicine practice.

Dr. Beth Perrier - Policy and Advocacy Team Lead
Appointed as SGFP Policy and Advocacy Physician Lead in May 2024, Dr. Perrier brings a unique perspective as a comprehensive family physician and medical psychotherapist. With leadership roles including SGFP interim Vice Chair, District 6 Chair of the OMA, and HPE Medical Society President, she is focused on fostering leadership growth, particularly among female doctors with young families.

Dr. Adam Stewart - Governance Committee Chair
Dr. Stewart brings expertise in practice efficiency, digital health, and business acumen to the SGFP Executive. Known for his proactive approach and social media presence, he intends to apply a frontline perspective to all initiatives, ensuring policies directly benefit family doctors.

Dr. Darija Vujosevic - Finance Committee Chair
Dr. Vujosevic serves as Primary Care Clinical Lead for Niagara OHT-ESON and Lead Physician for Garden City FHO. With a decade of experience in physician leadership, she aims to uplift the voices of her colleagues and improve their work-life balance and compensation.
