Carrying Your Voice to the OMA General Assembly
Carrying Your Voice to the OMA General Assembly
Dear SGFP Members,
This past weekend, 20 SGFP delegates carried your voice to the OMA’s annual General Assembly (GA).
We began with a dedicated pre-GA session, grounding our delegates in our SGFP strategy: primary care at the foundation of the system, with family physicians leading the way. That clarity set the tone for the weekend.
From there, SGFP convened a special session set aside for our section, joined by OMA Board and operational leaders. It was a unique opportunity to engage directly, and our delegates asked the hard questions, the ones that cut to the heart of rescuing a system in crisis and reimagining it as one that truly serves patients while sustaining family medicine as a rewarding career.
Across the Assembly, in sessions with other OMA sections, SGFP delegates pressed for answers. In formal proceedings alone, they raised approximately 20 questions—supplemented by numerous hallway and breakout discussions—on themes of fair compensation, structural reform, and the practical supports physicians need to thrive.
What stood out was not just the number of questions, but the way they were asked: thoughtful, strategic, and unflinching. Your peers represented you with conviction, ensuring that family medicine’s priorities were impossible to ignore.
I want to extend my sincere thanks to the 20 delegates who gave their time, energy, and expertise to represent SGFP so powerfully. Their commitment is a reminder of the strength we have when we act together.
I also want to acknowledge our CEO, Bill Kreutzweiser, whose vision and leadership continue to guide SGFP’s work. His steady focus on system reform and family physician wellbeing provides the foundation for the progress we are making.
Below my signature, you will find the list of delegates who stepped forward on your behalf—audaciously, unapologetically, and with deep commitment to our collective future.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Dave Barber
