New OMA Resources on Patient Attachment Bonuses and FHO+ Locums & FHO+ Webinar Reminder
Dear SGFP Members,
In case you missed it in last week’s OMA News, we wanted to highlight new resources related to patient attachment bonuses and FHO+ locums, as well as a reminder about the upcoming FHO+ billing webinar next week.
We know these changes are landing in already full clinical days, and the lack of clear timelines is adding pressure for many of you. Please know that SGFP is actively seeking answers and advocating for a rollout that supports your work rather than complicates it. We will continue to keep you informed.
FHO+ Billing Webinar
Join Drs. Ryan Banach and Salesh Budhoo and the Section on General and Family Practice, with me moderating, on March 11 from 6 – 8 p.m. for a webinar that will cover key changes to billing codes and fee values, what’s staying the same and what’s changing, and practical guidance on what to bill and what to avoid.
New patient attachment bonus resource
We know many of you have questions about the new patient attachment bonuses. Family physicians in all patient enrolment models will be eligible for these bonuses for rostering unattached patients beginning July 1, 2025. The OMA has released a new resource that provides an overview of the bonuses and answers to common questions.
Some key implementation details are still pending from the Ministry of Health, including the specific billing codes, when they can begin to be used, and the process for claiming bonuses for retroactively enrolled patients. The OMA is pressing for clarity on these points. Once the ministry provides this information, the OMA will update the resource and we will notify members.
FHO+ and locums
Many doctors in the FHO model have asked us for guidance on hiring locums under FHO+. OMA has published a new resource that explains how payments flow to a FHO+ locum and some key things to consider when building the locum’s contract.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Dave Barber
